2016 Events

Come along every 3rd Sunday of the month to spend some time at Galleywall -- we've got lots happening this spring and summer.

All sessions are free and run 2-4pm (except Saturday June 18th which is 10am-4pm). There's no need to book, just come along!

Children are very welcome (we always have pond-dipping and mini-beast hunt equipment and information available) but must be supervised at all times by a parent or carer.

If you need more information, email us at galleywall@gmail.com.

Sun 20 March: Work Afternoon and Cook-Out

Come and help us build bike parking from drainpipes, and if we have time, do some repairs to the habitat wall. Then share some lovely food cooked on our cob hearth.

Sun 17 April: Create a mushroom area

We'll lay wood chip and mushroom spores to create a mushroom area which should produce edible mushrooms later in the year (and following years!).

Sun 15 May: Herbs and herbal medicine

Come along and find out about the culinary and medicinal uses of native British herbs.

Sun 12 June: Big Lunch 2016

Bring some food to share as part of the Big Lunch 2016.

Sat 18 June: Open Garden Squares Weekend

We'll be opening the reserve from 10am to 4pm as part of London Open Garden Squares Weekend. There will be a few activities for adults and children, and hopefully some refreshments for sale.

Sun 17 July: The Challenge event

Local group The Challenge will be running an event by and for young people.

Sun 21 August: Dr Bike

Come along and get your bike fixed up for free by experts from Cycle Training UK.

Sun 18 September: Beekeeping

Learn about beekeeping from an expert, and take a look inside a hive.

Sun 16 October: Fungi and foraging tour

There are lots of fungi (edible and not!) and edible wild foods in the reserve in the autumn. Come along and find out more from our expert.

Sun 20 November: Autumn Celebration!

See out the Galleywall season with tea, refreshments, and the last chance for the year to spend time in the reserve.
